The range was first explored in 1949 by renowned British mountaineer Bill Tilman, yet for decades it remained largely inaccessible and unknown to the wider mountaineering and tourism community. Jugal Himal is home to 14 peaks rising above 6,000 meters, many of which remain unclimbed to this day, making it a highly attractive destination for exploratory mountaineering. After a long period of inactivity, Nepali climbers officially reopened exploration in 2019, marking a new chapter for the region. Since then, Jugal Himal has begun to emerge as a promising new adventure tourism destination, with approximately 40–50 climbers and visitors exploring the area each season. Naturally pristine and culturally rich, the Jugal Mountain Range holds immense potential for sustainable tourism, trekking, mountaineering, and cultural exploration. As one of the nearest yet most untouched Himalayan regions from Kathmandu, Jugal Himal represents a unique opportunity to experience the raw spirit of the Himalaya. Welcome to Jugal Himal.
